Putting experience where it matters most: recognising opportunities, connecting partners and turning agreement into action.

Founder Story 07|Strategic Positioning: Focus and Choice

While defining the company's positioning, I kept returning to one question: Where are my experience, time and judgement most valuable?

Over more than a decade, I have built businesses, teams and companies from the ground up. These experiences taught me how demanding execution can be and why limited resources need a clear direction.

Choosing Where to Contribute

Being able to do something does not mean I should personally take it on every time. For each opportunity, I need to assess where I can make the most useful contribution.

I have chosen four areas of focus: identifying genuine commercial opportunities, selecting capable and reliable partners, building cross-border relationships and aligning participants around shared objectives and action.

This requires an understanding of the business context, the ability to assess information and an appreciation of different stakeholders' needs. Those elements then need to come together in a workable arrangement.

Bringing Expertise Together

In many projects, the necessary expertise already exists across different businesses and specialists. Progress also depends on how well those capabilities connect around a common goal.

For work requiring specialist execution, I prefer to collaborate with suitable partners. Within an agreed scope, my role includes clarifying needs, coordinating resources, addressing key issues and helping the work move forward.

That approach requires a clear division of responsibilities. Who provides specialist advice, who executes and who makes decisions should be established as clearly as possible at the outset.

Supporting Collaboration Before and During Delivery

Before cooperation begins, I focus on whether the opportunity is viable, the needs are understood and the terms are clear.

Once work is underway, I pay attention to whether objectives remain aligned, responsibilities are being fulfilled and obstacles to progress are addressed promptly.

I choose partners who value integrity, bring professional capability and are willing to invest in a lasting relationship. This foundation reduces avoidable friction and makes it easier to translate judgement into action.

Creating Room for Growth Through Focus

Strategy also involves deciding what to leave to others and which opportunities to decline. Where suitable specialists already exist, I prefer to organise collaboration. Where an opportunity falls outside the company's focus, I assess carefully whether it deserves our resources.

I want to build cooperation around clearly understood problems and direct our resources towards practical value. That is the focus on which I intend the company's growth to rest.
